What can I do about cracks and sores at the corners of my mouth?
Spørsmål
Hello, I have cracks on the corner of my mouth and was wondering what the treatment for that would be. I think it is angular chelitis, and I have had it for about 3 weeks now.
It sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms of persistent cracks and soreness at the corners of the mouth, known as angular cheilitis.
This is an inflammation of the corners of the mouth that causes cracking and soreness due to a combination of different factors. A fungal infection is often one of the reasons why it takes a long time to heal. The usual treatment is an antifungal medication, such as mikonazol or klotrimazol, which can be purchased at a pharmacy. The cream should be applied 2 to 3 times daily, and treatment should be continued until the redness and sore area have been completely resolved for at least 2 days.
If standard treatment does not lead to improvement, if your symptoms worsen, or if you suspect another underlying cause, I would recommend that you contact your GP/primary care physician for an assessment, as there may be other possible causes that should also be considered.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
